Last night, the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Los Angeles, CA, and for the first time in I can’t remember how many years I have not watched it live šŸ˜¦ I used to stay up until 6 a.m. to watch it every year, cause they started around 2 a.m. here in Romania, but this year, I don’t know why, I haven’t. I guess I’m just getting old šŸ˜ It’s a shame really, cause I just finished watching them and it was amazing! One of the best ever! There were a lot of performances, more than any year, I think, and I loved every one of them ā¤

Don’t have much to say about the host, Chelsea Handler. I wasn’t really impressed by her, but she was the first woman to host the VMAs since “Justin Timberlake was still in the Mickey Mouse Club, pretending he wasn’t having sex with Britney Spears” [that was pretty funny :D], as in 1994, so we gotta give her that.

And the winners… well, I pretty much agree with all of them, except for one: Video of the Year! I may be a little biased here and I don’t wanna pull a “Kanye West”, but Eminem should have won šŸ˜‰

Speaking of Eminem, his performance was A-FREAKING-MAZING!!! Seriously, I had tears in my eyes when he started singing. With every performance like this one and every song, he’s reminding me why I love him so much šŸ˜€ And Rihanna wasn’t bad, either.

Justin Bieber performed from the Nokia Plaza. Looking past the “I’m so cool” looks and moves, his performance was pretty good too.

And next, oh, Usher! ā¤ It was like 30 minutes into the show and two of my favorite artists performed. Best show ever! You could hear Ush’s voice growing weak at times, but with those dance moves, it’s understandable. He was great, as well!

Other performances were given by N.E.R.D and Ciara, from the Chevrolet Cruze Drive In, Drake featuring Mary J Blige and Swizz Beat, Florence + The Machines, Bruno Mars and B.o.B. followed by Haylie Williams and Paramore. Also, Linkin Park put on an amazing show from the Griffith Observatory and Taylor Swift performed for the first time her new song “Innocent”, with references to last year’s “events” and Kanye West. Speaking of which, Kanye was the last one to perform, closing the awards ceremony. Pretty good, the song, also making references to his jackass-y behavior at last year’s VMAs [And I always find something wrong/ You’ve been putting up with my shit way too long/ I’m so gifted in finding what I don’t like the most/ So I think it’s time for us to have a toast/ Let’s have a toast for the douche-bags/ Let’s have a toast for the ass-wholes/ Let’s have a toast for the scum-bags/ Everyone of them that I know]. Including himself, I guess.

Now that I have expressed all my thoughts about this year’s show, which I think has been one of the best (if not the best), after the jump you have the list of the winners, some photos and some of the performances. Enjoy! šŸ˜€
